Happy Weekend

First, I want to apologize for my lack of posting.  I assure you I have been very busy unlike sleeping beauty above (my mom's horse, Aphrodite).  I am very excited for the next couple of days because as usual our weekend is jam packed!  Tonight James and I will be going to dinner with James' college friend, Ryan (see his wife's adorable blog here).  Tomorrow my mom and I will be going to a bridal shower for my life long friend's sister.  Sunday we be supporting a friend of James' in a walk for Crohn's disease.  And, when we finish that his sister, Emily, and her boyfriend, Jamie, will be waiting at our house for us.  I can't wait for to catch up with all our visitors.  Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Raining on My Parade

This has been a crazy/rainy week for me.  Last weekend we were in Nashville where sadly it was cold and rainy.  We still managed to have a great time though!  The pictures above were taken in between showers at Iroquois Steeplechase.  James and I arrived home to VA late Monday night welcomed by more rain, which continued throughout the week. 

My time spent at home this week was short but sweet.  Yesterday, James and I hosted a farewell dinner at our place for friends, Halley and Alex, who are moving out of town.  Today, I head to Boston, MA (my first place of residence) with my mom to celebrate Shauna's graduation from Suffolk Law School.  Weekend forecast in Boston... more rain!

Barn Door Crush

Lately I have been seeing barn doors being used inside the home.  I am loving this idea!  Not quite sure why I am so drawn to this, but if I had to guess it would have to be the fact that a large part of my life has been spent in barns (horseback riding is a very time consuming sport) or maybe it is just the overall functionality of it.  Barn doors can be useful when trying to open, divide or even hide spaces within the home.  I am especially liking the thought of having a barn door divide a dining room and kitchen.  How perfect would it be if you could have a nice dinner in the dining room and hide away the messy kitchen?  Below are a few of my favorite uses of barn doors.  What do you think?  Cute... yay or neigh?

Let The Race Begin

Yay, the weekend is almost here!  This weekend James and I will be spending some time out in the country, very close to what I would call my hometown (I moved a fair amount growing up).  Saturday morning we will be meeting friends in D.C. for breakfast, then taking a charter bus to The Plains, VA to attend Gold Cup (i.e. a great excuse to mix three amazing things: friends, horses and champagne).  For Mother's Day, we will be heading back out to the country to see my mom.  While there we will be going to see this and out to dinner at a quaint restaurant nearby.
